In 1876 the first funeral service took place at the unique monumental Moscowa Cemetery & Crematorium in Arnhem. There are approximately twenty thousand graves at the cemetery which occupies a site of more than seventy-four acres. In 1974 Moscowa - which owes its name to a farm with the same name just outside of the cemetery - founded a crematorium, which is characterised by an extraordinary peak-shaped architecture of both auditoriums.
