The Achter de Regenboog (Beyond the Rainbow) Foundation provides parents and carers with support and counselling in the period before, during and after a death. Furthermore, the Foundation helps care for the children, too. Teachers, social workers and other involved parties can also consult this organization.
The national information and counselling service is available four mornings a week for calls from children, parents, teachers, family doctors, social workers and others.
Every year, the Achter de Regenboog Foundation organises a number of weekends at which grieving children and young people can deal with their feelings and experiences and meet peers with similar struggles. The weekend includes a separate informative programme for parents and carers, which is evaluated a few months later during a follow-up day.
Achter de Regenboog also organises lectures and workshops, and distributes a number of publications. Volunteers can participate in various training courses aimed at children’s grief counselling.
