On 4 March 2010 the new permanent display at the Literary Museum in The Hague will be inaugurated: The Pantheon ‘100 writers – 1000 years of literature’. For this occasion, a white rose will be placed on the graves of 100 selected writers during the month of February as a mark of respect. Four of these graves are situated at the Westerveld Cemetery & Crematorium (part of ‘the Facultatieve Group’).
On Saturday 6 February, Aad Meinderts, the director of the Literary Museum laid roses at Westerveld at the graves of J. Slauerhoff, L. van Deyssel (pseudonym of K. Alberdingk Thijm), H. Gorter and Multatuli. A passage was read from the work of each writer. The 100 selected quotations will together become an anthology of Dutch literature.
