The second Uitvaartbeurs (Funerary Trade Fair) was held in Haarlem on 19 April last. This year too, its location was the impressive St. Bavokerk in the heart of Haarlem’s historic city centre. With more than 3,500 visitors and about 80 exhibitors, the trade fair was a big success.
Entry was free, and it therefore attracted many visitors who ‘happened’ to walk past. They were introduced to everything from the funeral industry; from funerary care to the final destination of the ashes, and from insurance to training programmes in the funeral industry. Then there were the many novelties, such as the Waterurn and the possibility of having a remembrance DVD made. A special stage had been erected between the stands for lectures and special presentations.
The stand of Cemetery & Crematorium Westerveld was in a good location (across the entrance) and was visited by many, partly thanks to its special presentation. Here, people could find out more about the various options for the final destination of the ashes, but the Westerveld staff had also planted examples of memorial plants in the stand. Another special place had been reserved for catering - where virtually anything is possible. Visitors were very positive and impressed by the many possibilities.
