The radical rebuilding of Moscowa Cemetery & Crematorium is completed after more than one year. The main building of the crematorium has been re-designed during the renovation and can now meet all demands of family and relatives. On Saturday 9th April – from 10 h till 16 h – Moscowa is holding an Open Day, so every one can see the result.
End to an unacceptable situation One of Moscowa’s biggest problems before the rebuilding was poor logistics. It could be that family and relatives of different funerals crossed each other. This was a completely unacceptable situation, which has now come to an end. The two auditoriums have been completely renovated in the past weeks, with conservation of the very characteristic roofs. Furthermore, new buildings have been added, so now every auditorium has its own family room and room for visitors. Centrally placed there is also a modern professional kitchen that can provide families and relatives with refreshments, and that can be much more than just coffee with cake and/ or a sandwich..
Service at the highest level Moscowa Cemetery & Crematorium is part of ‘ the Facultatieve Group’ from the Hague which, besides Westerveld (the first Crematorium of The Netherlands) already has 4 other crematoria. Moscowa was previously operated by the community of Arnhem and when it was taken over by the Facultatieve Group in 2002, Chairman Henry J. Keizer said that “Arnhem deserves a crematorium and cemetery where the service is at the highest level”. One of the first issues on the agenda was the radical rebuilding of the crematorium, which now has been finished.
