To show the results of the first phase of the rebuild – during which many rooms have been modified – and to give people “a peek behind the scenes”, ‘De Boskamp’ Funeral Centre & Crematorium (Boskamp 5 in Assen) is organizing an Open Day on Saturday 13 March. Please feel free to come along between 10.00 and 16.00 hours. We’ll be giving tours, with nearly all areas open to the public. Kids are very welcome, too.
Renovations
“We are constantly occupied with the optimization of our services”, relates Leo van Eijk, Director of ‘de Boskamp’. “What’s more, it is essential that the atmosphere is homely and up to date. This is why we initiated a major renovation scheme last year, the first phase of which is now complete. First of all, the reception area was comprehensively renovated, and we have now created an appealing new space adjacent to the entrance lobby for Information & Aftercare. This allows us to welcome and advise families in an appropriate setting on various matters such as where to scatter the ashes, etc.”
Various other rooms were renovated during the first phase of the scheme. “For instance, the reception itself, the family room and the large columbarium have all undergone a metamorphosis”, says site manager Sietse de Vries. “We are very proud of this and really want others to see it. There is not yet a fixed date for commencement of the next phase, as we are carrying out the renovation in phases to ensure as little disruption as possible to our services.”
Openness
“Unfortunately it often seems that people are insufficiently aware of all the possibilities for cremation”, comments Sietse de Vries. “Openness during this Open Day is therefore crucial. As one would expect, many rooms will be accessible, including the cremation area. Our staff will be present to answer as many questions as they can. They will also be happy to explain the various options available for personalizing ceremonies, memorials, urns and/or ash jewellery.”
