Laurens van Rooyen Laurens van Rooyen studied at the Academy of Music in Utrecht. Here he met Herman van Veen with whom he formed the successful group ‘Harlekijn’. He was awarded a ‘Gouden Harp’ (Golden Harp) for his solo career which brought him to many national and international stages. He became famous as a pianist, composer and musical educationist. He has also produced about 45 cd’s, many of them with his own work.

Laurens van Rooyen also composed film music for movies including ‘Rembrandt’, ‘Eline Vere’, ‘Een vrouw als Eva’ (a woman like Eve) and the international film by Hugo van Lawick: the Serengeti-Symphony. He is also active in theatres, and his dance-opera ‘Orfeo’ premiered in October 2005. This was a cross-over from classic, opera and dance music that had never been done before. For Orfeo he worked with young dance composers as Rank I and Geert Huinink, the producer of DJ Tiësto.
