4700 visitors attended the traditional Concerto in Memoriam yesterday; Sunday 5 June. This was the 12th time that this impressive concert had been organized in the park of Westerveld Cemetery & Crematorium and it received very positive responses again this year. Just as in previous years, everything was done to offer the visitors a broad program. The well-known Dutch composer / pianist Laurens van Rooyen performed a few musical works and after that the poem ‘Ooit’ (someday) of Jean Pierre Rawie was recited.
The Opera Choir of Volendam performed pieces of Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schubert and Verdi and of course The Last Post was played. The Words of Solace this year were spoken by theologian and maker of TV-programs Jacobine Geel. She did this in a very impressive way.
