Henry J. Keizer chosen as secretary general of ICF
| Chairman of the Executive Board Henry J. Keizer has been chosen as secretary general of the International Cremation Federation (ICF). Mr Keizer had been nominated by the Royal Dutch Cremation Society 'the Facultatieve', one of the founders of the ICF. As secretary general, Keizer stands at the top of the ICF organisation and is responsible for the operational side of the ICF. His appointment also means that the ICF secretariat will be run from The Hague.
Mr Keizer has a number of plans up his sleeve intended to make the ICF more efficient. “The ICF is a global organisation. However, not all corners of the world are faced with comparable problems. While the environment is an important issue in Europe, elsewhere the discussion regarding cremation as such and the ethical aspects of cremation are more important. We therefore plan to introduce regional committees into the ICF. By dividing the world into regions, the ICF can gear its activities more directly to the problems actually encountered in the practical situation. That will bring the ICF closer to its members.”
