On 5 October 2010, Jaap de Bruijn was presented with the Customer-Oriented Insurance Quality Mark on behalf of Facultatieve Verzekeringen, the first and only funeral insurance company to receive this quality mark. This new quality mark aims to contribute to further improving transparency for the customer. The venue for the presentation was the Nieuwspoort press centre in The Hague.
In the company of other insurers including Nationale Nederlanden, Delta Lloyd, Interpolis and Centraal Beheer Achmea, Facultatieve Verzekeringen was the only funeral insurance company to receive this quality mark. “We are of course extremely pleased with this,” Jaap de Bruijn, Director, says proudly. “For many years now, Facultatieve Verzekeringen, a funeral insurance company with in-kind benefits, has been giving the highest priority to all elements that this quality mark promotes. The fact that we are among the first insurers to receive this quality mark confirms that we are on the right track. But this job is never finished. The insurance sector sees more and more complex products and new players. The quality mark is a tool to set us apart from the rest. Trust and reassurance are vital concepts for the consumer that we, as insurers, must continuously give the highest possible priority.”
Customer-Oriented Insurance Quality Mark
The Customer-Oriented Insurance Quality Mark - the first insurance quality mark to promote transparency - is an initiative by the Insurers Assessment Association (Stv). Insurers must meet extremely strict requirements divided across five different themes: communication and information that is comprehensible and clear for customers, careful and prompt service provision, proper telephone accessibility, customer-satisfaction surveys and in-house quality policy and management.

Facultatieve Verzekeringen NV is a modern, reliable and independent company with many years' experience in funeral insurances in the Netherlands. The organisation is well-known for its flexibility. Operating as part of ‘the Facultatieve Group’, Facultatieve Verzekeringen has ample a wide experience in the funeral sector. The history of ‘the Facultatieve Group’ dates back to 1874 when the current Koninklijke Facultatieve (Royal Dutch Cremation Society) was founded. The association instructed the first crematorium to be built in the Netherlands (Crematorium Westerveld, 1913).
