Crematorium ‘De Boskamp’ of Assen (in the north east of the Netherlands) joins ‘the Facultatieve Group’. This cooperation enables ‘De Boskamp’ to guarantee quality and continuity into the future.
Crematorium ‘De Boskamp’ was opened in 1980, and has since built up an excellent reputation in the Assen region. Every year, the crematorium - which has two ceremony halls and several reception rooms - arranges more than 1,100 cremations. ‘De Boskamp’ has 15 dedicated rooms for display of the deceased, accessible to families 24 hours a day.
In the rural and woody surroundings on the outskirts of Assen, the facilities serve both the crematorium and the adjacent cemetery of the same name. The subtle architecture forms the basis for a special atmosphere, both inside and around the building.
In order to be able to continuously meet the wishes of the families, various adjustments, expansions and drastic renovations were realised in 1991 and 1999. Since 2005, ‘De Boskamp’ has been using modern filter equipment, thus meeting the most stringent environmental legislation.
Individual character guaranteed “Running a crematorium is subject to constantly changing requirements. We must anticipate the changing demand from families for an increasingly personal service, both during and after a cremation ceremony,” explains Joop Leene, secretary of the ‘De Boskamp’. “Furthermore, we as a relatively small organisation have to meet ever-changing legislation too. Smaller independent organisations find it increasingly difficult to anticipate these requirements, which are so specific to this line of business. That is why we are glad to join ‘the Facultatieve Group’. They guarantee the individual character of ‘De Boskamp’ into the future as well, because the ‘De Boskamp’ Foundation will continue to exist. The merger is effected by members of the Executive Board of ‘the Facultatieve Group’ filling in vacancies and assuming positions in the Board.
Henry Keizer, President & CEO of ‘the Facultatieve Group’: “We’re glad ‘De Boskamp’ has chosen to join our Group. It’s a crematorium to be proud of. The facilities and technology are in excellent condition. The employees are passionate and they do everything to offer the families the best possible service. We’re a perfect match! Careful preparations are underway for ‘De Boskamp’ to join us, and will be completed by 1 January 2007.”
