The monumental memorial park of Westerveld Cemetery & Crematorium in Driehuis will be host to the traditional Concerto in Memoriam on Sunday 8 June at 14.00 hrs. Last year, this open-air memorial concert had an audience of approximately six thousand. With this concert, Westerveld aims to provide an opportunity to as many as possible to remember their loved ones. Entry to the concert is therefore free.
Music on the 8th June will come from the young professional ‘Colla Voce’ orchestra (conducted by Bob Berkemeier), soprano Astrid Lammers (accompanied by pianist Laura Hölzenspies) and Loek Lufting (violin). They will be performing pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Strauss, Maurice Ravel, Johann Strauss, John Williams (music from the film Schindler’s List) and others.
On 8 June, Lieutenant-general ret. H.A. Couzy will read the Word of Comfort from his impressive personal experiences. From 1992 until 1996, Mr H.A. Couzy was the Commanding Officer of the Royal Dutch Army and, as such, was involved in deploying Dutch troops to dangerous areas. It was in that capacity that he experienced the deaths of young people and how relatives and society responded to that.
